Jonathan has been in theatre constantly for the past 15 years and in professional technical and directing roles for the past 10 years. This includes attending Southern Oregon University for sound design and directing, doing the sound design for three main stage shows and over 30 student productions during that time there. Jonathan also directed two student projects and a department directing project during his time there. After SOU, Jonathan had an extended six-month internship at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in the sound department. In addition to learning about how a sound department works in a large scale repertory company, the production department unionized under IATSE during that time as well as a change in the sound department leadership. For the last three months of his internship, Jonathan assisted the interim sound depart head in running the department.

After his internship at OSF, Jonathan went back to his love of old time radio shows and started to experiment with how to update the format to a modern theatrical setting in addition to the emerging podcast format. During this time, Jonathan also worked on his scriptwriting abilities and taught himself musical composing.

Jonathan came back to working full-time with a theatre company when he joined Camelot Theatre as a sound engineer for Spotlight on Kingston Trio in 2018. Since that show, Jonathan has worked on almost every show Camelot has done and took over as resident sound designer in 2021 as well as resident projection designer in 2022. In addition to his design and engineering work at Camelot, Jonathan founded and managed Camelot Theatre’s Audio Drama series, which has five successful productions. Jonathan also taught sound design and engineering to the students at Ashland High School.

Jonathan started a new chapter in his life in the fall of 2023 when he joined Virginia Repertory Theatre as their Audio/Visual supervisor and relocated to Richmond, VA.
